    A market town, Berkhamsted, England (/ˈbɜːrkəmstɛd/ BUR-kəm-sted) is close to Hertfordshire's western boundary. The Berkhamsted and Northchurch commons are on the northeast side of town, the largest in the Chilterns at 1,055 acres (427 ha), and through Frithsden and down to Potten End, forming an arc running from Northchurch. Between National Trust and Berkhamsted Golf Club, ownership of Berkhamsted Common is divided. A public school is Berkhamsted School.
